⁴ For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything

¹⁰ He also says,

   “In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, 
   and the heavens are the work of your hands. 
¹¹ They will perish, but you remain; 
   they will all wear out like a garment. 
¹² You will roll them up like a robe; 
   like a garment they will be changed. 
But you remain the same, 
   and your years will never end.”^[g]

¹⁴ Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.

¹¹ Here is a trustworthy saying:

   If we died with him, 
   we will also live with him; 
¹² if we endure, 
   we will also reign with him. 
If we disown him, 
   he will also disown us; 
¹³ if we are faithless, 
   he will remain faithful, 
   for he cannot disown himself.

 ⁷ For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

⁸ For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
